Moved in the area of Upper Saddle River about 4 weeks ago. Between unpacking and different people delivering, painting, installing things, etc, etc, I just now getting around to the firearms part. I understand about registering certain firearms, which is what I'm working on now, but I need to find a gunsmith in the area.

Any suggestions?

Try checking local FFL shops, they often have on-site gunsmiths or can recommend someone reliable nearby

Moving the firearms is always the last thing, and getting a new gunsmith is like trying to find a good barber, you can never be too cautious and you don't trust just anyone with your precious tools! When I moved to a new state a few years back, I literally called three different smiths just to ask about basic barrel threading. One guy answered with just a grunt, one was clearly running the shop out of a shed full of barking dogs, and the third guy sounded like he actually knew what a torque wrench was. My advice? Ask your new local FFL dealer (the shop you're registering with) who they trust. Don't go by Yelp reviews! You want the guy the pros use, the one who wouldn't treat your rifle like a rusty lawnmower.
