Okay real talk about steel case ammo

My buddy swears by it, says it's fine for practice. My other buddy says it'll destroy my gun. I'm confused. I've run maybe 500 rounds of steel case through my AR and it seems okay? But now I'm paranoid. What's the actual deal here? You guys use steel case or avoid it?

It’s fine for practice. And dirtier and harder on extractors, but not a gun killer, just avoid it for duty or defensive use.

I avoid it because I don't like the extra muzzle flash and I've heard it's harder on parts as well. Any cost savings is negligible, so it doesn't justify the risk to me. Use em up if ya got them, but don't buy more (in my opinion).
