I am curious to hear everyone’s stories, what was the very first firearm you ever shot and how did it go?

Me shooting 1968 newspaper.webp

Mine was a Savage .22LR/.410 shotgun, (over & under). I don't remember what year it was, but there was no serial number on the rifle/shotgun.

A .410 shotgun that bruised me up good. It was so loud that I couldn't help but flinch every time

It must’ve been a memorable introduction to shooting

A .410 can surprise you with recoil and noise, especially on a first experience. Getting bruised up is almost a rite of passage, I am glad you stuck with it and kept learning.

Wow, 1968!! This is truly amazing
Got my first gun in 1972, I was 10
Santa brought me an Ithaca model 66 Super Single in 3" 20 gauge that kicked like an angry mule on 'roids.
My dad would take me trap shooting with it, damned thing taught me to handle recoil and not flinch (too much). I don't think that was my fathers goal, he was probably being cheap, but it worked out like that.

I no longer have the gun, gave it to a masochistic friend years ago, he uses it to explode squirrels and his shoulder.
