I never thought I'd get into reloading, but with ammo prices so crazy, I didn't really have a choice. It cost a lot to get started but now I’m actually saving money. Did the ammo shortage make anyone else start reloading?

Oh yeah, I jumped in too, my wallet said “finally!” and my garage said “oh no…”

High prices pushed me into it and now I actually enjoy the reloading process.

In some special instances, yer forced to load cartridges that aren't commercially available. For example, .45-70 black powder paper patched bore rider bullets. They'd be difficult if not impossible to be offered over the counter because they need to be created with a specific chamber and bore in mind, as well as special tin:alloy slicks.

The same could be said for modern long range smokeless cartridges, where a tailored load for a specific rifle is almost mandatory for top consistent accuracy.

I absolutely agree, some loads are so specific, factory ammo just can’t realistically cover them.
